Default Purchase Advice

Good Evening, I saw my first Cougar on Monday in a local car yard in Cairns. 1999 model, manual, cloth seats, 102,000KM, no cruise control, exterior looks very good, seats a little worn, regular maintenance recorded, asking $10,250.
Anyone have any advise on what i should be looking out for and if this is a reasonable price. What maintenance items would be coming due? All suggestions/ advice appreciated.

Default Buying a Cougar...

Daz if you are new to Cougars then you need to do a LOT of research into this type of vehicle. Do a google search and start reading, bear in mind though that most of the reviews are in the USA and the cars we got out here were technically superior to the US models.

A lot of the local reviewers failed to grasp the concept that Cougars are a "touring car" and really only show their true colours on the open road. They are not really a city car.

If you get on line you will see a few available around the country and get a better handle on prices. If you can see if you can snag an Eibach (there is a red one available in Sydney for about 10K) and you will appreciate the difference.

I have owned a lot of cars over the years and am very happy with mine as it is the only car I have ever owned where complete strangers come up to me and ask me about it. Most of them can't believe that it is a ten year old car as it still looks very stylish and up to date.

Like all cars they have their problems but this is to be expected.
