Is the advantage of the black wheels the fact that you dont need to clean (the brake dust and dirt) them?

As tempting as this model is (and it looks and reads like a fantastic package) I can't help but feel that when the ST comes out (with it's 178 bhp EcoBoost engine, similar fuel economy, torque vectoring, Aston Martin snout, and similar equipment list) the Metal will seem like it's poor cousin (even though it's sensational value)
Even though it will cost around 6-7k more I'm going to hold out for the ST. Hopefully I'm making the right decision!! |

Aye, why not wait another few months for the ST to roll out?
Though what is interesting is that the engine seems to be pretty much the same but with a different tune. Wonder if anything in the Fiesta Metal that can be translated over to the current WS/WT models. Say, the map coupled with a more free flowing exhaust for +10kw. For the black wheels though, how would a repainted set of stock alloys look in matte/light sheen black look. Can anyone shop that? |

I think someone said it already, but the extra 10 kw set-up should be in the Zetec. Give buyers a little extra oomph for the supposed sport model of the car. It should be the same for the Focus Sport as well, a slight increase that wouldn't eat into potential ST sales.

Looks good - shame that it still has drum brakes on the rear - even if only from a cosmetic point of view, though the better braking characteristics would also be a welcome improvement.

considering the drum brakes only do 20% of the braking and the car is only 98kw it doesn't really matter.
If you're that worried though there is a conversion kit on pumaspeed.

I also wonder about the claim in the OP about cruise control.
Cannot find a photo of the black with cruise on the steering wheel. |

Does anyone know if there are any differences between what's being showed to the actual AUS product when they arrive?
Can anyone in the know say if these are going hot on pre-order like the RS Focus did when announced? |

I dont think they'll all sell on pre order either.... with only an extra 10kw most people will wait for Fiesta ST with the turbo

Just purchased one for my Mrs. Looks great!
As per my purchase doc the car is listed as "WT FIESTA METAL SVP 3DR HATCH 1.6L 5SPD" The car is not "keyless start", the UK version appears to be! I will post more whenever the mrs lets me drive it My biggest disappointment is after all these years the car comes std with drum brakes.....seriously!

Good to see they're out in the wild.
As for the drum brakes don't worry you will have enough braking power from the front two. Think of the cost benefits ;)

After a year of ownership, I'm still surprised at how well the Fiesta pulls up (who cares if it has drums on the rear) Of all the cars I've experienced, the WS Fiesta really is the best compromise between cost of ownership and driving experience. |

Had a look at one today. Very cool to look at in all black. Has cruise control. No keyless entry which is a bummer.
But lots of stuff the zetec shoulda had originally, like auto wipers, lights, heated leather seats, climate control, retracting mirrors, 17's, chrome exhausts and extra power. They are all manual trans too apparently.. I must say it did look pretty phat. Plus with only 250 of them, at least you wont see them everyday! |
